Make It Monday # 190: Stamping Plaid Backgrounds

I haven't played along with Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday for a while; sometimes I don't have the right supplies, sometimes I just over think the process and then I don't have enough time to create a project!!   This week's challenge was a perfect chance to make another card for my Christmas/holiday stash, using Distressed Stripes as the basis for my plaid design.

* I had cut a journal card for another project from a piece of caramel card stock and was left with a "frame" that I had saved in my scrap box. I used this piece to stamp the plaid effect using Pure Poppy, Pinefeather and Limeade Ice inks. Because I was only stamping the frame section it was easy to use the Distressed Stripes stamp and just ink a small section of the stamp as needed.

* The frame was applied to the front of a cream coloured card base.
* The tree (Polka Dot Parade #8) was die cut and then stamped with the co-ordinating stamps using Pinefeather ink.  I die cut the tree several times and then layered them to create dimension.
* The star was sponged with Pure Poppy ink and added to the top of the tree.
* The sentiment (Love Lives Here: Holiday) was also stamped with Pinefeather.

I liked how this turned out, so I made a second card!! It's a fairly flat card, so should be great for mailing. I used a different sentiment for the front (Love Lives Here: Holiday) and stamped the card interior. (see below)

Card Interior
The top of the interior panel was stamped with the plaid pattern
and a sentiment and baubles were added. (Love Lives Here: Holiday)

Inks - Pure Poppy, Limeade Ice, Pinefeather

Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop: Winter Hills

It's time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge.
This is my second card for this month's blog hop.
I've been busy making Christmas/Holiday cards, so this
challenge really pushed me to make another card using
SNOWFLAKES (this month's theme).

* Winter Hills is the perfect stamp for a Holiday card. I stamped the rectangular scene with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with copic markers. A clear Gelly Roll pen was used to accent the snowy hills, the outside frame and some 'snow dots' in the sky. The image was cut around the frame and then mounted onto a piece of black card stock.

* A piece of white card stock was partially cut with the Tag Sale #8 die, stopping before the top. I used an exacto knife to finish cutting the edges to create a longer panel. Polka Dot Basics was stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed with silver EP. The framed image was glued to this panel.
* The card base was stamped with a sentiment (Holiday Wishes; Versafine Black Onyx) and then impressed with the Linen/Canvas Impression Plate, before attaching the finished focal panel.

* Fancy Flakes die was cut from white card stock and sponged with Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal inks. The star was heat embossed with silver EP.

Papertrey Ink November 2014 Blog Hop

It's time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.
This month's theme is SNOW.
It's currently snowing outside, so this is a very timely challenge!!
I made a Holiday card using PTI stamps, dies and card stock.

* Two Stitched Circles were cut: Pure Poppy and Stamper's Select White.
* A snowflake (Peace Be Still) was stamped onto the red circle with Versamark and then embossed with white embossing powder.
* A small clear adhesive gem accents the center of the snowflake.

* Contrasting embroidery floss, using a blanket stitch, highlights the edges of the circles. This was the most time consuming part of the process.
* A card base of  Stamper's Select White was impressed with the Linen/Canvas Impression Plate and then two corners were rounded with a  corner rounder punch. The sentiment (Love Lives Here : Holiday) was stamped with Pure Poppy Ink.

Winter Cheer

Since I still had Close To My Heart's Polar Bear Holiday sitting on my desk, I decided to make another holiday card. This time I used the skating bear and a colour scheme of blues, grey and silver.
The main focal panel was cut with Stitched Rectangles die and then I re-positioned the die in order to cut a square. I stamped the snowflakes with Grey Wool ink and then added royal blue embroidery stitching around the square panel. I also used a marker to add blue dots throughout the stamped snowflake images.

The polar bear was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloured with copic markers and then fussy cut. The skates and the trim on the hat were coloured with a silver glitter pen. The cut image was attached over the stamped panel with foam tape.
The patterned paper (Doodlebug Designs) was glued to the white card base and then the main focal panel, a blue snowflake and adhesive pearl were added.
The sentiment was stamped onto a thin strip of white card stock with Moonstruck ink and then glued to the card front.

More snowflakes and a sentiment finish the card interior.

Supplies Used:
Stamps - CTMH: Polar Bear Holiday
Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black; CTMH: Grey Wool, Moonstruck
Paper - PTI: Stamper's Select White; Doodlebug Designs Winter Ribbon Stripe;
Royal Blue (from my scrap basket)
Dies - PTI: Stitched Rectangle; MFT: Let It Snowflakes
Other - J&P Coats Royal Blue embroidery floss; copic markers; Zig Writer: Blue Jay; Sakura Gelly Roll Silver glitter pen; silver adhesive pearl; foam tape.

Polar Bear Holiday

It's been over a month since I last made a card or posted on my blog.  October was very unproductive - the flu bug hit me just before our Canadian Thanksgiving and it's taken me a long time to recover. I also ended up in the hospital for three days - they still aren't sure what the problem is, so more tests are scheduled. All of this means that I lost interest in crafting!! But now I'm finally starting to think about the upcoming holiday season.
I bought Polar Bear Holiday (Close to My Heart) in August and decided to combine it with a few sets from Papertrey Ink to make two Christmas cards.

I cut one of the Stitched Circles from Stamper's Select White card stock and then stamped the polar bears with Memento Tuxedo Black, in order to colour the images with copic markers. I used red cotton crochet thread to stitch around the circle. The snowflake (My Favorite Things) was cut from white card stock and then coloured with Crystal Blue ink (CTMH), before attaching it to the edge of the circle panel. A red glitter gem was added to the center of the snowflake.
The white card base was stamped with a sentiment (Two Feet Deep) using Grey Wool ink (CTMH) and then snowflakes (Polar Bear Holiday) were added (CTMH: Crystal Blue ink).

Card Interior
Holiday Wishes Sentiment; Snowflakes - Polar Bear Holiday.
