Christmas Tree : A Touch of Gold

Blog-hop-logo
I finally got into my craft room to make a card for this month's
Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge:  A Touch of Gold.
Gold Embossed Die Cut Tree (Believe)

I also saw the current challenge at Festive Friday: Trees
and decided to combine these two challenges.

Gold Embossed Sentiment (Peaceful Pinecones)

We are finally having some hot weather here, so making a Christmas Card may seem a little 'out-of-season', but I do like the fact that I will have a few cards made before the holiday season. This one was very Clean and Simple and will be great for mailing. I'll be making a few more of this design!!

Card Details  (PTI, unless noted)
Stamps - Believe, Peaceful Pinecones
Inks - Versamark
Paper - Stamper's Select White
Dies - Believe. Double-ended Banner die
Other -  Stampendous Gold Fine Detail Embossing Powder; red and gold markers;

Balloon Trevor x 2

    One of my grand nephews turned 4 in early June, so I set out to make
a card that would be easy to mail. I have another grand nephew who
will be three in August, so I decided to make a second card with the same details. I like the idea that I have a head start on a late summer birthday!!

* I started by stamping Balloon Trevor (C. C. Designs), colouring with copic
     markers and then fussy cutting. Trevor's shirt was also stamped onto
     patterned paper and fussy cut so I could paper piece it.
* The balloon portion was stamped 3 more times, coloured with a variety
     of copic markers (greens, blues, reds, yellows) and fussy cut.
* Before positioning the balloons and Trevor, I embossed the Kraft card
    front with the Wood grain Impression Plate. The sentiment (Say It In Style -
      Close To My Heart) and suffix (th) were also stamped onto the card front,
    then a Pure Poppy number die cut was added.

* The picket fence was cut from polka dot paper; the grass border die
     (My Favorite Things) was cut, then added to the bottom of the card.
     Small brass adhesive pearls accent each of the pickets on the fence.

* A rectangle of Rustic White card stock was added to the inside of the
    card and then stamped with several sentiments. (Stylish Sentiments: Birthday;
      Mega Mixed Messages; Fillable Frames #7) using Pure Poppy, Blueberry Sky
    and Rich Cocoa inks. The stitching line (Sew Simple Borders) around
    the edge was added with blue ink.

Happy Birthday - Take 2!!

* I used patterned paper for one of the balloons. The dark chocolate polka
    dot paper was stamped with Background Basics: Woodgrain before cutting
    the picket fence.
A green copic marker was used on the grass to add some texture border.

The inside uses stamps and dies from Heart-2-Heart #5.

Father's Day Cycling

My husband is an avid cyclist - he 's been taking advantage of some warm and sunny days to take long rides (50+ km) so I thought a bicycle would be appropriate for his Father's Day card. I used a bicycle as the focal point and then "built" the rest of the design with a variety of other details.

* Bicycle (Everyday Button Bits) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink;
     coloured with an orange marker and a silver metallic pen.

* Masked bicycle; stamped  the "road" with lines from School Time
     coloured the road with copic markers.
* "Grass" (Lovely Layers) stamped with Simply Chartreuse and Soft Moss inks
      Polka Dot Basics stamped with Simply Chartreuse below the road.
* Sentiment (Close To My Heart - Say It In Style) was stamped with black ink.

* Sunshine (Up, Up & Away)  stamped with Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise
* Card Front - Linen Impression Plate used to create subtle texture.

* Trendy Tree Tops Dies
     Tree trunk  - Dark Chocolate card stock & Wood grain Impression Plate;
     Tree top - Green patterned paper from a Recollections paper pad was used.
     Die cuts were glued in place; orange butterfly (SU - Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die)

* Bicycle Wheels - 3/4" circles were made with a circle punch using
     True Black card stock. The centers of the circles were punched
     out with a 1/2" circle punch. (This created two doughnut shapes)

* The spokes were created by stamping an image from Funky Florals
     with Smokey Shadow ink (stamped off to create a grey effect),
     then a 5/8" circle punch was used.  This circle was mounted behind
     the tires. These two wheels were added to the bicycle. Small black
     rhinestones were added to the centers of the spokes.

* The inside was finished with a sentiment from Simply You.
* Sentiment - Play the day away! (Close To My Heart)
     Soft Moss, Limeade Ice and Simply Chartreuse inks

Clouds & Rainbows

     I've had this piece of colourful patterned paper with rainbows and clouds
for a long time and decided to experiment with some stamps and dies to design a card using it as the background.
* I used Up, Up & Away Stamps and Dies, coloured with copic markers and accented with sparkle dots. The card front was mounted onto Berry Sorbet
card stock; two rows of machine stitching accent the edge; a white card
base was used.
* I tried stamping the sentiment (Movers & Shakers  Sentiments) directly onto the patterned paper with Versamark and embossing powder.  I wasn't happy with the final look, so I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of white card stock with Berry Sorbet ink, stamped over the top with Versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. This really made the sentiment stand out.
* One of the stamps from Half & Half was used to stamp the sentiment panel with Aqua Mist ink. I wiped the extra ink off with a paper towel and that left a background that blended with the original patterned paper.  (The embossed sentiment resisted the Aqua Mist ink.) The corners were rounded and then matted with Berry Sorbet card stock.

* The hot air balloons were mounted onto the card front varying
the height by using different thicknesses of 3-D foam dots.
* Sparkle Dots add a little glitter to the hot air balloons.

Card Details (PTI, unless noted)

Other - copic markers; corner rounder; 3-D Foam Dots; sewing machine
