Botanical Silhouettes

I love coordinating tags, paper and embellishments  for gift giving.
Sometimes gifts can be difficult to wrap in a traditional way - an odd size or shape means that you have to think 'outside the box' to make it work.
I created a trio of gift wraps for my sister-in-law's birthday gifts,
using Botanical Silhouettes and Distressed Stripes stamps, along with a simple white bag and card stock and turquoise tissue paper and card stock.

After wrapping the main gift with tissue paper, I used some extra paper to make a 'pom pom' flower to act as a topper. A green ribbon and stamped tag finishes (Tremendous Tags die cut) the design.

A white bag was stamped with images from Botanical Silhouettes using Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay and Simply Chartreuse. A small butterfly (Butterfly Dreams)  was stamped in Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise and Canyon Clay. A strip of Hawaiian Shores was die cut with the Large Scallop Border Die, folded over the top of the white bag and then tied with a small piece of green Baker's Twine.

The sentiment (Botanical Silhouettes) was stamped
with Hawaiian Shores and Canyon Clay.

The Pillow Box die was cut from white card stock and then stamped with a variety of colours using Distressed Stripes. A green ribbon was added.

Wee Folk Baby Welcome

When my granddaughter was born
I sent this card along to my son and
daughter-in-law to welcome sweet Cayleigh.
Wee Folk Mini Kit from Papertrey Ink has
so many images that are perfect for a baby card.

I started by stamping the leaf design
two times with New Leaf and Simply
Chartreuse inks. The sentiment was
stamped with Sweet Blush ink before
adding the tulips with New Leaf and
Aqua Mist inks. For additional details,
I added hearts and flowers with
Lovely Lady and Bright Buttercup inks,
then sponged the edges with
Sweet Blush ink. The card front was
impressed with Canvas Impression Plate.
The yellow bunny was die cut
from one of the  pre-printed
pages that comes with the kit,
and then added to the card front
using dimensional foam tape.

Inside of Card

I printed the sentiment from my computer,
onto a piece of Linen card stock and then
die cut it using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangles.
I cut a 5 1/2 " x 4 1/4" Stitched Rectangle from
Lovely Lady cardstock and then cut the center
of it with a smaller rectangle so that I could
insert the white sentiment panel into it.
A yellow pre-printed butterfly from the
Wee Folk Kit was added.

Worldwide Quilting Day - Hearts

March 18th, 2017 is
Worldwide Quilting Day
so it is the perfect time to share a
cozy flannelette quilt I made
for my granddaughter, who
was born this past November.
I had a variety of fabrics in my stash,
so used them for this snuggly quilt.

My inspiration came from the patterned fabric -
pink, yellow, blue and glittery white hearts
printed onto a  light blue background.
I chose white, pink and yellow fabrics to
coordinate with the print. The white squares
were machine appliqued with a pink heart
using a blanket stitch.

The back of the quilt was created by piecing
yellow strips of fabric on either side of a pink
flannelette panel. I machine quilted all the
layers together by stitching on either side
of the seamed squares.

Yellow and  pink borders were added to the
front of the quilt before machine quilting.
A yellow binding was added to the edges
of the finished quilt.

Wishing you a warm and cozy week-end!

What the Doodle: Butterfly Birthday

I love the detailed cut-out design of
What the Doodle: Butterfly from Papertrey Ink.
Here's the birthday card for my 8 yearold
grand niece using this set of stamps and die.

Card Front: stamped with Hibiscus Burst ink using Watercolor Wonder.
Sentiment: Happy Birthday (Close To My Heart) with Plum Pudding ink.

 Details

Butterfly: stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, die cut and then coloured with copic markers. A yellow and white solid butterfly die cut was adhered to the card front and then the coloured die cut was attached so that the wings could be curled up for added dimension. Purple dots (from my stash) were 'sprinkled' around the butterfly as accents.

Polly's Superhero Birthday

I really adore the Comic Strip Cover Plate from Papertrey Ink and have used it often for birthday, baby and anniversary cards. This card was made for my grand niece's 6th birthday. I started by cutting the cover plate in Stamper's Select White card stock and sponging the frame portions with a variety of pink inks, to create an ombre look.

With a colour scheme of pink (Hibiscus Burst), purple (Winter Wisteria, Plum Pudding) and yellow (Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold), I filled each of the blocks with stamps and die cuts from Zappy Birthday and Superhero.

Top left panel:
Background paper: Plum Pudding Bitty Dots paper.
Zappy Birthday die cut was stamped with Hibiscus Burst.
Sentiment: from Zappy Birthday stamped onto a narrow
piece of white card stock to create a banner.

Top right panel:
Background: stamped with Birthday Style confetti stamp
using Hibiscus Burst, Plum Pudding and Harvest Gold inks.
Circles: Plum Pudding Bitty Dot paper; Superhero image stamped
with Hibiscus Burst on to White card stock circle;
Star:  Harvest Gold card stock die cut

Center panel:
Background:  Modern Background Stencils sponged
with various inks; Die cuts from Superhero

 Lower left panel:
Lightning bolt: stamped onto a die cut and
layered over patterned paper that was fussy cut.

Lower right panel:
Background: sponged with various inks to create a "night" sky
Zappy Birthday dies: buildings cut from  Plum Pudding card stock;
"WOW!" cut from white card stock, then sponged with
Harvest Gold and Lemon Tart inks.

Stinkin' Cute for Aviv's 1st Birthday

I don't have a lot of "critter" stamps,
but I really like this "Stinkin' Cute" stamp and die set
from Lawn Fawn for children's birthday cards.
I've already used it for a few cards click here and here,
where I've made scenes, using flowers, sunshine and butterflies.

This variation uses Fabulous Frames die cut from
Berry Sorbet Bitty Dot Patterned Paper.
The background scene was created using
Stamper's Select White card stock sponged with
Crystal Blue ink (Close To My Heart).
I then stamped the grass and flowers (Garden Variety)
and butterfly (Sweet Spring).
I used a foam sheet behind the frame for dimension
and then attached it to the card front.
The plaid paper (Recollections: Bold Basics Paper Pad
was mounted onto a Berry Sorbet card base.

The large yellow flower was created by die cutting
two pieces of yellow polka dot paper -
Flower Fusion #9 and the smaller Ad Sense medallion.
A Berry Sorbet button was added to the center
with yellow embroidery floss.
The sentiment (Garden Variety) was stamped
with New Leaf and Berry Sorbet inks
onto a Double-Ended Banner die.
Since this card was going to my grand niece who turned
one at the end of February, I stamped sentiments from
Big Birthday Wishes onto a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle
white card stock and then added "1" from
Polka Dot Parade Numbers die cut.
The bottom of the card was accented with a Heart Border
die cut from Berry Sorbet dotted paper.
